A sad day in our history was January 28, 1986, when space shuttle Challenger exploded 74 seconds after liftoff at Cape Canavaral, Florida as a result of a leak in the main liquid fuel tank.
All seven astronauts, in which included a pilot, aerospace engineers, scientists, and school teacher Christa McAuliffe died tragically in the explosion.
The explosion became one of the most significant events of the 1980s, as billions around the world saw the accident on television.
In 1980, the first SUV by American Motors was invented which made the conversion vans of the 70's less pop The Wrangler Jeep Cherokee was invented in 1984.
